KSWDC was founded in 1996 in response to continuing conflicts affecting the lives of the Karenni people and their exploitation at the hands of the Burma military government. Their goal is the democratic empowerment of all Karenni people through education and community development. Departments include Mine Risk
Education, Emergency Relief Assistance, Community Development and Information Collection. The organization is centered in Ban Nai Soi about 50 minutes from Mae Hong Son.
KSWDC run two courses a year: a basic English course and a sixth month course for intermediate English speakers, focusing on a variety of subjects and aimed at providing students with the skills to be environmental and human rights activists, and

Skill/experience required
Knowledge of the subjects volunteers will teach required. Prior teaching experience preferred.
Age restrictions
No age minimum.
Length of placements
KSWDC ask volunteers to commit to at least 3 months. However, they would love to find a volunteer able to stay for the entirety of their six month course.
Support offered to volunteers
Accommodation and food is provided for volunteers.

Seeking
- English teacher (starting in November)– to teach elementary to pre-intermediate English.
- Teachers for the 6 month intermediate course (starting in June) – teaching office and organisation management, sustainable development, project planning and report writing, and research. They may also have to teach other related subjects and/or pre-intermediate/ intermediate English.
