By providing marginalized women opportunities for academic and professional development, the We Women from Burma project supports women in gaining access to key positions within policy- making and influential organizations in order to become leaders in their community. Through the project, young women can access pre-university preparation, in-university mentoring, full scholarships for academic courses, internship opportunities and an alumni network.
Seeking
Skill/experience required
Anyone happy to work in an office environment, friendly, flexible and reasonably IT savvy! English teaching or fundraising skills/experience a plus.
Age restrictions
Volunteers must be 18 years or above.
Length of placements
Usually recommend a 4-6 month minimum placement. However, can be flexible.

Seeking
- English tutor – preparing small groups of students (aged 20-30 years) for academic English and TOEFL exams.
- Fundraising and networking assistant - locating and making contact with potential funders, writing funding proposals, organizing fundraising events.
- ‘All-round volunteer’ – mixture of work from English teaching, report-writing, communications (including social media) and admin work, to fundraising. Can tailor role to fit volunteer’s specific skill base.
- Off-site student advisers – providing online support to University students.
